I read Johnny Crow's Garden to my kids years ago and still remember the wonderful images whenever I see a crow walking in my yard. I wanted a copy for old times sake, but this issue was sorely disappointing. The illustrations are poorly copied, reduced in size, and crammed together on the pages of a "book" that is little more than a poorly put together pamphlet. My Grams read this to me when i was little so i had to pass one on the my new nephew.
Beautiful illustrations, about a crow who invites his friends to a garden party. Real art in this book.
The writing is excellent, as good as it always was. However, the removal of color from the illustrations in this edition is awful. And it wasn't disclosed by the seller. I have therefore returned the book.
Gifts for family and were wonderfully Accepted, it has been a family tradition to read this book to the children
I was very excited to find this title available, which I remember so fondly from my childhood. But the product that arrived was a disgrace to the publishing industry. The illustrations are bad photocopies, and the text has been typed in by hand with no thought to how it fits on the page, or indeed where the words break. A fourth-grader would have created a nicer edition. Very disappointing. I'm very sad.
I bought this book because when I was a child my Mother used to sit and read it to me. Now, 51 years old, retired from the U.S. Army and a multiple combat veteran; I was longing for a time when life was simple and clean. This book brought that back for me. Struggling at times with the present, I was reminded what a joy life is .... in Johnny Crow's Garden ! I would pray that all Vets find their peace, and learn to enjoy life again ..... Johnny Crow's story isn't perfect but neither is life .... enjoy .... !
Poor reproductions of the pictures!!! Get the newest edition you can find and you will see the genius that was L. Leslie Brook
